Learn about the mouse:
The mouse is very small mammal with gray or brown fur. Mice are rodents. They have pointed faces, round ears, and long tails with no fur. Different kinds of mice are found in many parts of the world in different habitats. Many species of mice are endangered.
* Review and present some interesting mouse facts.
Alphabet Activity: Letter M is for Mouse
Present the letter M mouse six-piece online jigsaw puzzle to practice problem solving and view letter M in upper and lower case. Adjust number or pieces using the Change Cut button on the left.
Print and display alphabet letter M Mouse printable materials of your choice in the materials column. Make a fun presentation presenting a puppet mouse craft as an "assistant."
* Finger and Pencil Tracing:
Trace the letter M's with your finger in upper and lower case as you also sound out the letter. Invite the children to do the same on their coloring page. Encourage the children to trace the dotted letter with your choice of sharpened crayon, fine tip marker, regular or coloring pencil. Demonstrate the direction of the arrows and to pay attention to the numbers that helps them trace the letter correctly. (ages 3.5+). During the demonstration, you may want to count out loud and as you trace so children become aware of how the number order aids them in the process.
*Find the letter M's: Have the children find all the letter M's in upper and lower case on the page and encourage them to circle or trace/shade them first. Visit each child to make sure they have identified the letter M's and then discuss the locations with the poster.
*Coloring Activity: Encourage the children to color the large letter M and mouse image with a variety of materials.
