is the biggest, reddest, and bravest dog of all? But of course, Clifford the Big Red Dog! Ages: 2.5 and older Count on Clifford, by Norman Bridwell, is an entertaining and educational book that helps children practice and learn numbers 1 through 10. If the child in your care likes Clifford or s/he has never read or seen the new PBS TV series this book presents a good opportunity to have fun with this lovable character and also learn the numbers. The Clifford soft cover book series are reasonably priced at under $5 US. You can also sample a large selection at your local library. Activity for 4.5 to 6 year olds: * After reading the Count with Clifford, practice numbers 1 thru 10 with this dot-to-dot coloring page. You may need to assist with numbers 11-20. After completing the dots, color and decorate. Easier activity for children 2 to 4 years old: * After reading the book your child can enjoy coloring this page of Clifford sleeping. Draw in ten bones above Clifford's image and write numbers 1 to 10 (inside bone), and tell child Clifford is counting juicy bones in his dreams. Can s/he help count? * Visit the PBS Clifford web site to learn more about Clifford the Big Red Dog's educational program, great online, offline activities, and excellent teachers' materials to include in the preschool classroom or day care. |
