Activity #2:  Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Nursery Rhyme and Music (Optional: Star Bright)
*Read and/or sing the nursery rhyme posters of your choice.  Make sure child understands the meaning of all the  words.   Identify colors in the picture.  Here is the music and longer version of the lyrics, enjoy and sing!

Note:  Children under 2 will benefit greatly from singing, using puppets, stuffed animals, and/or finger plays with nursery rhymes.

*Try to dress in something yellow for this activity.

Note:  At this point you can include a Bible reading and discussion related to star as it is represented during Christmas festivities, view links below.  Use Bible coloring pages as display resource.

Activity #3:  Easy Shapes Star Craft

Note:  If presenting this activity for a Christmas theme, present the significance of the star as it relates to the holiday.

*  in this activity children will have fun practicing shapes: circle, triangle, crescent, oval
Print the template of your choice:  in color or black and white version on paper or card stock.  The black and white version can be printed on yellow paper.
Cut the pieces
Practice Numbers & Shapes:  Counting & Sorting
1. Ask and help child to identify the shapes.
2. Count and sort the shapes by type.
3. Write the number 1 - 5 on the back of the triangles and 6 & 7 on the circles, 8 on the crescent and 9 & 10 on the oval eyes.
 4. Colors:  Talk about the different shades of yellow (light or darker).
Children can color and decorate the pieces.  Encourage child to glue the template pieces to a piece of paper or to the large circle edges.  Allow child to see the small image provided on the template as a guideline.
Optional:  Children can add glitter glue or small pieces of tissue paper to embellish the star.

* Note:  If assembled directly on the circle you can make a little hole and tie a ribbon or string to hang as a holiday ornament or glue a craft stick/Popsicle stick to make a hand puppet

To reinforce, read and sigh the rhyme again after the craft has been completed, and at  read at least once a day during the week using the rhyme poster and finished craft.

Place the finished craft in a place of honor at child's eye level.
