Do you know that Aesop's Fables have been
around since 620 B.C.! How many millions of children (us
included) have enjoyed hearing them and learning from them for
centuries!
Now you can enjoy, listen and discuss
one of the most famous of this fables with 21st Century technology at
its best!
Activity #1 Read the Lion and the Mouse - 2 versions available
There are two wonderful versions online. View and choose the one that
best suits the children age and tastes:
1. Online Version #1: Here is a wonderful contemporary adaptation by Tom Lynch - The
Lion and the Mouse - click on the lion image and
enjoy!
You may want to explain how these images were illustrated with hand
sewn patchwork tapestries of folk art from the countries of Africa,
India and Peru. This version is suitable for children 2+ and
older.
*If you happen to have a real example of patchwork, that would be a wonderful thing to include in the
presentation.
2. Online Version #2: This is longer animated adaptation of the fable and is quite
interactive. The children can participate by clicking on the
highlighted images to reveal what happens next in the story.
Come and see The Lion and the Mouse at BBC Online for Little
Kids. Suitable for children 3+ and older.
