Jellyfish Paper Plate Craft and Printable Activities

Materials:

  • paper plate
  • scissor or shaper scissors
  • glue stick
  • coloring & painting tools
  • tape
  • hole punch tool
  • streamers or ribbons in different widths and lengths or construction paper cut in strips
  • yarn (12-15 inches per child)
  • Optional: 2 medium to large wiggly eyes, glitter (1/2 or 1 teaspoon per child) or glitter glue

Get ready for a wibbly-wobbly adventure with this fun jellyfish paper plate craft! It's an easy and exciting way to explore the beauty of these boneless wonders of the deep.

These fun and educational activities are appropriate for preschool, kindergarten and elementary grades.

Instructions:

  • Cut the paper plate in half. Paint the paper plate ahead of time and allow to dry. To obtain a pastel color, add a some white paint to any primary or secondary color. To get an even textured feel, use a sponge.
  • Once the paper plate is dry, with the rounded part of the plate side up, have the children draw a smiley face, 2 simple eyes (glue in wiggly eyes), a nose shaped like letter J, and smile. You can add a rectangle of color paper, as shown, on the photo, but it is optional. A shaper scissor can be used around the paper plate to reshape and adorn the borders.
  • Prepare 7 to 10 streamers or ribbons - 7-10. These can be leftovers from birthday parties or other holidays, or cut long strips of construction paper in different widths and lengths, optionally you can use shaper scissors. The photo shows it with paper strips with shaper scissors.
  • Show the children how to glue the streamers to the undersides of the paper plate so that that the strips hang downwards.
  • Optional: decorate the top rim of the plate with glitter.
  • Using a punch hole maker, make to holes at the top center. Insert a length of ribbon or yarn make knot to hang the craft.
