Lily Paper Craft and Printable Activities
Materials:
- printer
- paper or card stock to print the template
- paper or construction paper in contrasting color for the background
- coloring tools for B&W template
- scissors
- glue or glue stick
- Optional: one or more real lily blossoms
Let's assemble a beautiful paper lily, just like the real ones that pop up every spring! We'll learn how this lovely flower, especially the Easter lily, symbolizes new beginnings and why it's a star in so many bouquets.
These fun and educational activities are appropriate for toddlers, preschool and elementary grades.
Printing Options:
Color option: Ideal for toddlers to concentrate on assembly and identifying colors.
Black & White: Select from two templates. Template 1 with bolder outline for younger children. Template 2 with lighter outline and a more realistic and complex image.The B&W option is best for all ages, to color, paint, decorate and scissor cutting practice.
Instructions:
Assembly and learning activities: (after template is cutout and decorated)
Discuss the colors: Explain the Easter lily is white, but lilies are in many colors. Count the templates out loud.
Discuss the visible parts of the plant: the flower, the petals, the stem and leaves. True lilies grow from bulbs, not small seeds.
Assembly:
- Allow the children to play with the pieces and assemble them and point to the small picture found on the template for guidance.
- Apply glue to the top of the stem, press the flower over it.
- Apply glue to the lower part of the stem, slide under the pot, center the flower and press.
- Turn the finished craft over, apply glue to the borders and glue to another piece of paper in a complementary color, such as blue sky background.
