Alphabet Activities > Letter Q is for Quail

Present the letter Q quail six-piece online jigsaw puzzle to practice problem solving and view letter Q in upper and lower case.

Present and display your option of printable activities listed in the materials column.

Children Age 3 and under:

Print this toddler coloring page with large bubble font, color, paint and decorate or,

Print a letter Q coloring page D'Nealian or Standard Block font and a quail coloring page behind it or on a separate page if using paints to decorate later. Discuss other letter Q words - view this worksheet for ideas.

Finger Tracing: Trace letter Q's in upper and lower case with your finger as you also sound out the letter. Invite the children to do the same on their coloring page. Write the word quail on the finished coloring page.

Children ages 3+:

Discuss other letter Q words and images found in the worksheet. You can also display other Q posters and coloring pages or even make a letter Q classroom book. Visit letter Q printable activities to make your choice.

Finger and Pencil Tracing: Trace letter Q's in upper and lower case with your finger as you also sound out the letter. Invite the children to do the same on their coloring page.

Encourage the children to trace the dotted letter, and demonstrate the direction of the arrows and numbers that help them trace the letter correctly. During the demonstration, you may want to count out loud as you trace so children become aware of how the number order aids them in the writing process.

Find the letter Q's: Have the children find all the letter Q's in upper and lower case on the page and encourage them to circle or trace/shade them first.

Coloring Activity: Encourage the children to color the image in the coloring page or worksheet.

Letter Q Word Search & Handwriting Practice: The four word search game features letter Q words with a quail image and handwriting practice.

1. Print your choice of printable lined-paper and encourage children to draw a quail behind the page or print a quail coloring page to color and decorate with feathers after writing practice.

2. Drawing and writing paper. Encourage children to draw and color a quail and write letter Q.
